MacKenzie Scott — the ex-wife of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos — has married a science teacher who works at a Seattle private school, according to a report.
Scott, one of the world’s richest women noted for her philanthropy, wed Dan Jewett, a teacher at Lakeside School, a source told the Wall Street Journal.
Her Amazon author page currently says she “lives in Seattle with her four children and her husband, Dan,” the report said.
Scott helped Bezos start Amazon in 1994. The two, who have four children, divorced in 2019 following the revelations of Bezos’ affair with Los Angeles TV reporter Lauren Sanchez.
The divorce left Scott with 20 million Amazon shares, or a roughly 4 percent stake in the e-commerce giant. At the time, the shares were roughly $30 billion.
Following the split, Scott signed onto the Giving Pledge, setting a goal of giving away more than half of her wealth, which according to Bloomberg’s Billionaires Index, now sits at $53.5 billion.
In a December blog post to Medium, Scott said she donated nearly $4.2 billion to charity in a span of four months to support struggling Americans during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Her new husband wrote in his own Giving Pledge letter that, “In a stroke of happy coincidence, I am married to one of the most generous and kind people I know—and joining her in a commitment to pass on an enormous financial wealth to serve others,” according to the Journal.
The relationship between Bezos, who last month announced he was stepping down as CEO of Amazon, and Sanchez was first revealed by the National Enquirer, which published raunchy text messages between the two.
In a subsequent post on Medium, Bezos accused National Enquirer publisher David Pecker of trying to force him to stop investigating the tabloid’s expose of his affair.
